While datasets can be difficult to find when combined their utility increases:
Rather than relying on catalogues of content and search we are looking to explore the use of AI and LLMs to simplify data discovery and analysis. Imagine simply asking “I live on Main Street, am I at risk of flooding?”, rather than looking for a flood layer, then a building layer and then performing an overlay analysis.
OGC’s Climate and Disaster Resilience Pilot (2024) is looking at this exact problem developing generative AI-enabled virtual assistants and the results of the pilot will help develop a simpler user experience for the discovery and use of geospatial data:
